JUST ONE YES!

I scrolled through my mail inbox a few days ago and encountered many rejection emails. For the past two years, there has been hardly a week I have yet to apply for an opportunity. I always apply to organizations, schools, and individuals to improve. As you all know, I need to be more qualified for these opportunities; hence, I get a lot of rejection emails.

While some organizations are kind with rejection emails, others make me feel trashy. I remember an email in February where the organization told me they couldn’t continue with my application but stated no reason. I understand they must not explain themselves to me, but if the tables turned, the person on the other end would love a reason for the rejection.

As the emails kept piling up, I ended my application routine; within that period, I came across excellent opportunities, but my negativity wouldn’t allow me to apply. I let the many NOs’ impact stop me from getting my YES!
Even when I started applying again, I was always waiting for a NO; at some point, I built a wall around myself with NOs that only a YES can break.

It didn’t take too long before my YESES started to come, and gradually, it broke all the walls built with NOs around me. It took just one YES to expose me to positivity, and of course, other YESES followed. I had the privilege of choosing where to work, and I got offers to online schools that I had to drop some to avoid being overwhelmed.

With just one YES, I went from the rejected to being the chief cornerstone; my email inbox full of rejections is now an inhabitant of acceptance messages, congratulations, and offers!

Most of you are sitting comfortably on the seat of rejection; you are either tired of sending out applications or have given up. Like me, you are overwhelmed with the rejection that you are beginning to feel unworthy.

Today, I urge you not to feel that way; you need just one Yes! While waiting for the YES, work on yourself. Each time I get a rejection email, I dedicate a particular time to feeling bad about it and then move on. I looked beyond the NO and worked on how to better myself. Sometimes, I revamp my CV; other times, I take courses to understand better what I am applying for. I even go the extra to search for those in similar roles online and model their profiles.

Another important thing that helped me was my support system. Here is a special shout-out to my friends for giving me a shoulder to lean on, sharing opportunities, and encouraging me to keep trying.

It would be best to surround yourself with people with the right mindset; this will keep you going on days when your mind gets clouded with negativity. You and all your friends cannot be going through life challenges simultaneously; this means there must be someone in your circle who will support you during your times of NO.

Your YES is coming! These NOs prepare you to properly handle your YES, make the right decision, and shape your mind towards life. It is a process; embrace it!

Remember, all you need is just one YES!
