Often we are stuck between doing what we want and doing what others want us to do.

Have you experienced such happiness before? Choosing yourself brings peace!

I have been there many times. It takes work, and choosing yourself over others is a lot. It's not easy to be selfish, as some people are out to guilt trip you. Today, I want us to understand that it is okay to choose yourself over others!

What does it mean to choose yourself?

Choosing yourself is all about prioritizing self-care and personal growth. It entails making decisions that align with your values, desires, and happiness. Even if they may go against societal expectations, it is okay to make time for yourself and not feel guilty. Learn to choose yourself even if someone significant wants to spend time with you.

It means recognizing your worth and taking ownership of your well-being. That leads to a more fulfilling and authentic life.

Daily, we get overwhelmed with messages telling us how we should look, what we should do, and who we should be. This outside noise makes it hard to listen to ourselves and make choices that align with our values.

However, self-care helps us break free from the influence of society and create our own lives. Connecting with nature and pursuing hobbies allows us to recharge and stay nurtured.

Steps to Choose Yourself

Do you want to start choosing yourself and not feel guilty about it? Here are some steps to consider:

  • Self-Reflection: Understand your strengths, weaknesses, passions, and goals. Reflect on what matters the most to you and what brings you happiness. Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you'd offer a friend. Be patient with yourself and acknowledge your progress.

Release toxic relationships, negative self-talk, and limiting beliefs that hold you back. Surround yourself with people who support and uplift you.
  • Practice Self-Care: Engage in activities that nurture your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This could include exercise, meditation, spending time with loved ones, or pursuing hobbies. Ensure your basic needs include sleep, nutrition, and a safe environment. You can better focus on personal growth when you're taken care of.
  • Set Goals: Define short-term and long-term goals that align with your values. Working towards these goals can give you a sense of purpose and direction.
  • Embrace Change: Be open to change and new experiences. Learning to step out of your comfort zone can lead to personal growth and discovery.

You ensure you stay true to yourself and don't try to conform to others' expectations. Authenticity leads to a more fulfilling life.
