A minute!

Amos Rebecca Buba

A minute is full 60 seconds, yes that’s what a minute is. But how long is a minute to you? Is it so short that you barely notice or so long that you feel like it’s two in one?

Time it self is how you define it. Time is short if you have a lot of things to do, while it might be long if you are idle and probably just staring at the clock or lazing around.

Your activities defines time, take for instance, on Tuesday morning while getting dressed for work, I couldn’t find my deodorant, I looked at the phone and saw it was 7:16 then I searched for what I thought was a minute or two, then I checked my phone again and it was actually 5 full minutes. Then like 30mins later, I was at the bus stop waiting for a taxi and I stood for what I felt was 5 minutes or more but it was actually just a minute! Yes a minute. This example shows that what you are doing actually determines the speed of time to you. When I was going up and down my room it felt short but while I was standing in one position it was long.

Time moves whether you are busy or not. Just that when you are idle you tend to focus on it movement and it might be slower. A minute swiftly changes to two and then hours and these tiny minutes in batches form a day. One minute might seem insignificant at the moment but on a long run it matters.

Have you ever considered how after an accident, eye witness say it was caused because the driver was not patient for a minute? Or how a doctor tells someone you are a minute late? Or how you narrowly escape alive from an explosion that occurred a minute after you left? That’s to show you a minute can change your life!

Now that you know how significant a minute can be, let’s talk about making that minute count.

As the popular saying time waits for no man; if you aren’t doing anything, your minute will go pass you, instead of doing nothing, dedicate your day to carrying out activities, don’t spend the whole day sleeping ( yes I am referring to you that sleep all day and night), make a change doing productive things. Remember time wasted can never be restored.

If you have a lot of activities to carry out, time speed might be insignificant to you, therefore, learn to plan your day properly make sure you have meaningful tasks for every minute. Be sure that can account for how you spend them. Don’t be carried away by numerous activities to carry out and forget time, you can apply the time bound method it will help you dedicate a certain period of time to a specific task. That way, you will move with time and still make your day productive.

Be conscious; always know when to be patient and when to take the swift action, a minute can change your life and still destroy your life. Know when to move and when to stay. Listen to your instincts! If you are not always conscious, time will speed pass you and you will live with regrets.

Learn how to spend your time , just like in my example above, I spent five full minutes looking for my deodorant, when I could simply use a body musk or spray. It was that easy and would take me lesser time to do that but I didn’t spent that five minutes wisely and it cost me ahead. If you don’t spend your time wisely, you will definitely pay for it. Either immediately or subsequently. So always spend your time on what really matters at the moment.

Set your priorities straight, one major reason your minute doesn’t count is because you are busy doing the wrong things, set your priorities clear. Have an understanding of what you should do and why you should do it. After that decide if it worth your time or not.

As tiny as a minute is when spent wisely, it produces noticeable results.

Today and always, as you go about your day make sure you make that minute count!
